Lucky FABB Recap

ImageIn the midst of all the chaos, I’ve yet to share a recap on the Lucky FABB conference on April 4th. My day was spent at the lavish SLS hotel in Beverly Hills amongst a sea of blogging beauties, industry professionals and fashion legends. The day was spent learning the business of blogging and how to make your voice heard. I could spend endless posts describing my experience, but I decided to share a few of my favorite quotes from my favorite speakers.

ImageLucky’s Editor in Chief: Brandon Holley

“Let’s all quit our jobs and start blogging!”

ImageStyle star Kelly Osbourne

On fashion: “Have fun with it! Fuck what anyone else says.”

“Spend money on shoes, handbags and blazers.”

ImageVice President of Rachel Zoe Inc: Mandana Dayani

On blogging: : “Check your ego at the door, be open to criticism.”

Image              Actress, Producer, Photographer, Winemaker (yes she has her own wine label), Beauty guru and one of my all time favorite people: Drew Barrymore

“Like takes different turns and it’s pretty wild.”

On beauty: “Happiness is the best makeup.”

P.S. You have to check out her new makeup line, Flower. Amazing quality at an amazing price, Flower is exculsively available at Walmart and I’m a little more than obsessed. I’ll be picking up some of her items this weekend!

ImageFashion legend: Betsey Johnson

On staying true to your voice: “It’s so simple. You just love it. You just have to love it. There’s no secret, there’s no schooling, there’s no money. You just love it and it comes through and it works.”

Talk about fashion star-struck. I literally had goosebumps when she danced her way on stage. 70 has no effect on Betsey, she is one ball of energy. (Jealous) She brought champagne and a sneak peek of her new reality show XOX Betsey Johnson which premieres on the Style Network on Sunday May 12th at 8pm. And let me tell you, you don’t want to miss this.

All in all, the Lucky FABB conference was well worth it. I definitely plan on attending both the days next year and bringing a photographer with me! If you have the chance fellow bloggers, I would highly recommend it.

Stay tuned for more!

New Directions

Tee: Urban Outfitters

Skirt: Target

Sweater: BP Nordstrom

Fedora: Cotton On

Rings: So Good, Forever 21

Necklace/Bracelet: BCBGeneration, Forever 21

Shoes: Chinese Laundry

New directions that’s where I am headed, literally. Remember when I said that there were changes to come? Well that would explain my brief absence. I have been in need of a change for a while now.

For a while now, I have been feeling a bit lost, uninspired and to top it off stressed to the core. There might as well have been a bright neon sign above my head screaming, “It’s time for a change!” I had to take a step back and evaluate the things that make me happy.

I decided it was time for a career change. I missed styling people, working with clients and making a difference in a person’s life through their wardrobe. (Not to mention being surrounded by clothes daily.) I missed retail. So I left Chinese Laundry in my pursuit of becoming a personal stylist. I recently took a job at Nordstrom in the TBD department and am already loving it. Doing what you love seriously makes all the difference.

Not only did I switch career paths but I made a move in another direction as well. I packed up and moved to Santa Barbara with J. Santa Barbara has been my happy place every weekend for over a year now and I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. So in my pursuit to happiness (no pun intended) and new career path I took the plunge. New town, new scene, new adventures. New steps to take in my fabulous shoe collection!

Hope you follow along!

P.S. Lucky FABB was absolutely amazing! Between my move, new job and birthday last week, I still haven’t had the chance for a recap! Stay tuned tomorrow for a few pictures and a few of my favorite moments!

Dress: BCBGeneration

Jacket: Borrowed

Belt: Nordstrom

Shoes: Chinese Laundry

It may be a little late but this was my Easter outfit last Sunday. Prepping food, sipping wine and decorating cupcakes were my duties for our big Easter dinner. How cute did my little peep nest cupcakes turn out? I may have made a mess in the process, but the end result was quite delicious.

You can never go wrong with a high-low dress in my opinion. They easily can transition from casual to dressy. I wanted to go more casual this day so I chose my printed high-low dress from BCBGeneration. I also love wearing it with a crew neck sweater and a pair of boots. Light denim jacket and my navy wedges from Chinese Laundry completed my outfit.

The Lucky FABB conference is finally here! Read all about it in a new post tomorrow!

Into the Wild

Dress: BCBGeneration

Jacket: “Rubbish” by Nordstrom

Boots: “Riding Hood” by Chinese Laundry

It was a gorgeous day in Santa Barbara last weekend. With the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky, J and I made a trip up to Lampoc. We stopped at one of our favorite wineries Fess Parker. Not only is the wine delicious but the estate is beautiful. Picnic tables, open fields and blooming flowers cover the property. It made the perfect kodak moment.

It was the perfect day to wear my floral printed shift dress from BCBGeneration. I love how light and comfortable this dress is. I also wear it with a pair of tights or leggings underneath  during those colder days. The weather this day was perfect so I took my light cargo jacket from Nordstrom. My most comfortable boots, the “Riding Hood” from Chinese Laundry finished off my outfit.

Stay tuned for more.

5 Friday Faves

1. “Cupcakes and Cashmere” by Emily Schuman. Cupcakes and Cashmere is one of my daily reads, so when I found out that Emily Schuman published a book I had to buy it. This book is full of fashion advice, delicious recipes, decorating tips and easy entertaining ideas. Can I throw a dinner party now?

2. Tulips. Spring has officially sprung! Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. I spotted these while out grocery shopping. I want to fill every room with them.

3. Sally Hansen Nail Stickers. Yes, I finally tried them. I was kind of intimated by all the stories I’ve heard about the process that these take, so I started off with a few. They are actually surprisingly easy! I was inspired by this leopard Dirty Laundry sandal at work. I am very pleased with how they came out.

4. Les Miserables. Finally! I didn’t have a chance to see it in theaters, so the minute it came out I purchased it. It was absolutely amazing. I am also a huge fan of musicals and Les Miserables happens to be my favorite. You have to see it if you haven’t already.

5. Lucky Fabb West Conference. I am beyond excited to have been invited to the Lucky Fabb West Conference! My ticket was the perfect birthday present to myself. Hundreds of bloggers, amazing speakers and a full day of building my brand is exactly what I need. I’ll do a full recap after the event next week.

Happy Friday!

Black & Yellow

Shirt: Heavenly Couture

Shorts: J. Crew

Rings: So Good, H&M

Cuff: Nordstrom

Shoes: BCBGeneration

I’m so happy it’s officially spring! I don’t know about you but I am ready for shorts weather! So when the sun was shining in Santa Barbara, I had to break out my favorite pair of printed shorts from J.Crew. I threw on this simple silk button down from Heavenly Couture to finish off the look.

The shoes? I chose my BCBGeneration yellow/natural flatforms to play off the colors in my printed shorts. Who doesn’t love a flatform? They are a necessity in everyone’s closet. Not only are they incredibly comfortable but versatile as well and I would definitely wear them every day if I could.

Just a short post today! Stay tuned for more!

Chinese Laundry Grand Opening

Another one of my jobs? Working events. Last weekend we celebrated the grand opening of our Chinese Laundry store in the Topanga mall. Often frequented by Bruno Mars and Selena Gomez, I was excited to see this celebrity shopped mall.

Setting out mini cupcakes, pouring pink lemonade, hanging balloons, snapping pictures and setting up our body painter and model were among my  many duties of the day. Being surrounded by shoes all day is tough (I made my wish list) but the event was definitely successful. If you are in the area make sure to stop on by!

Just a short post today!

Hats Off To You

Sweater: Forever 21

Skirt: Luna B

Hat: Nordstrom

Accessories: Express, Forever 21, So Good

Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Among the many things I collect, one has to to be hats. I literally have a hatbox full of them waiting to be worn. When I see a cute hat, I can’t resist. I am trying to find more ways to incorporate them into my daily wardrobe. With the new season of Rachel Zoe premiering, I was inspired to dig through my hatbox and take out my favorite grey fedora from Nordstrom.

With my favorite fedora I paired my new pleated skirt I picked up from one of my favorite local boutiques, Luna B. Over the skirt I threw on the easiest grey sweatshirt I own from Forever 21. Mixed silver accessories and my brand new cut-out booties from Chinese Laundry (Obsessed) finished off my outfit.

Stay tuned for more!

Glamour Gowns

Pardon my absence. Going back to school has been more of an adjustment than I originally thought. With a midterm last week, I decided that it was best to devote my week to studying. Big changes and bigger adjustments are to come but you’ll find that out in due timing.

I wanted to share the event I worked with Chinese Laundry last weekend. Glamour Gowns is an annual event that provides all the prom necessities to girls in the Los Angeles foster care system. From dresses, to accessories, to a personal shopper, over 400 girls get the Cinderella treatment.

Chinese Laundry generously donates over 400 pairs of shoes each year. From flat sandals to sky-high pumps, each girl gets to choose the perfect match to their dress. This is my third year volunteering and every minute is well worth it. Giving fashion advice, finding the perfect fitting shoe and matching accessories has never felt so good. Never take anything for granted.

Green With Envy

Dress: Forever 21

Sweater: Nordstrom

Belt: Forever 21

Glasses, Accessories: H&M, Forever 21

Shoes: Steve Madden

My first love? Shoes. My second? Wine. My Sundays usually consist of wine tasting in Santa Barbara with J. With Santa Inez, Lampoc and Slovang so close, the winery options are endless. While we frequently visit the wineries where J is a club member (free tastings every time!) we do try to visit others. This past weekend we discovered a few small tasting rooms near the beach in Santa Barbara, one of them even had board games and Ms. Pac-Man to play. Genius! The best part? We can walk there!

Knowing that we would be walking around the whole day I decided to go with a more comfortable outfit and nothing is more comfortable to me than a maxi dress. I have an obsession for army green right now, so when I found this maxi at Forever 21 for $15 I immediately purchased it. Santa Barbara almost always calls for a jacket so I grabbed my leopard printed sweater that I bought at Nordstrom years ago. For some reason it’s hard for me to find a leopard/cheetah print I like, so I am glad that this sweater has stuck through the years with me. I finished the look off with a few golden accessories and a thin braided belt. My favorite cognac boots from Steve Madden kept me comfortable and warm  (well so did the wine) throughout the day.
