Stay tuned for Fridays! I will share my 5 favorite things I am obsessing over the course of the week. This week I have to share my 5 favorite Christmas presents!
1. Hello Kitty: So I don’t think I have shared this yet but I am obsessed with everything involving Hello Kitty. I have since I was about 5 and my obsession has yet to wear off. My Christmas is not complete without something Hello Kitty. This year my best friend got me the softest Hello Kitty robe and matching slipper socks! My Dad also got me the cutest Hello Kitty Throw.
2. Fuck It ring: My Stepmom is the best shopper! I had put this up on my Pinterest board a while ago. Everytime I have searched for this ring it has been sold out. My amazing Stepmom had this ring custom made!
3. Neiman Marcus Collection: I made out this Christmas with the Neiman Marcus Collection! My best friend and her boyfriend bought me the Tory Burch lunchbox and thermos! I always bring my lunch to work so this worked out perfect! My brother also bought me the DVF jewelry box! Score
4. American Apparel Dog Sweatshirt: How cute is this?! My bf got this amazingly cute sweater for my puppy MJ.
5. New kitchen stuff: I have been in need of new kitchen equipment! So I was especially happy to open this new set of pots and pans from my Dad! I love the red theme! His girlfriend even got me matching towels and oven mitts!
I had a great Christmas! How was yours? What did you all get for Christmas?!

With the company holiday party under my belt and the Miss Universe events coming to a close I am beginning to feel like a free woman and I am now ready to fully embrace the holidays for the next week and get back on track! December has flown by so fast and I am still not ready for Christmas. For some reason I am struggling with my Christmas list this year and I know it’s not just because I am on a budget! Holiday shopping is tiring, especially when you have no clue what to get. Always have a game plan or some idea when venturing out into the holiday madness! I am usually much more organized.
I wore this simple outfit while out trying to accomplish some holiday shopping while out in Santa Barbara. I have been looking for the perfect button down with cut-outs for a while now but I tend to lean towards the more expensive ones. So needless to say I was thrilled when I found this striped one hanging on a rack in Buffalo Exchange. Score! I usually walk out of there empty handed! I wore my favorite pair of grey Sevens and finished the look with my Chinese Laundry bootie. The thick heel made these the ideal shopping shoes!
Just a short post today! I wish you all luck in your Holiday shopping and hope you are further than me! Check back later for a post on my experience as a foot model last Saturday!
It’s been one of those busy weeks and I am now trying to get back on schedule!
Last Friday I flew to Las Vegas to cover our Happy Hour party with the 2012 Miss Universe Contestants and Zappos employees. In case you didn’t know, Chinese Laundry is the official shoe sponsor for both the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. This year the Miss Universe pageant is in Las Vegas, so the girls are spending most of their December in Las Vegas. (Be sure to tune in to NBC 12/19 to see the Pageant) We try to get the pageant hype up by doing events and hosting parties with the girls. This year we hosted Happy Hour at the Zappos Headquarters with all their employees. Zappos is one of our key accounts, so we wanted to throw this event just for them!
I’ve always heard that Zappos is an amazing company to work for and that pretty much describes their offices as well. All their cubicles are fully decorated, they welcome their new employees with a personalized throne, they have a full coffee bar where you can get drinks all day long (for free!) and a full bistro where they provide fresh food from breakfast to dinner (also free!). And let me tell you they know how to party. Besides all the free perks, Zappos is also a very reputable company and continually growing, and are obviously known for their superb customer service.
All 94 Miss Universe 2012 contestants were broken into 3 rooms where we had karaoke and a dj, spin the wheel for prizes and a photobooth. Not to mention, we had 2 full bars! My job? To capture the pictures, encourage the girls to get up and sing and to cover all the social media platforms. The event was a huge hit! By the end of the party the girls were dancing to “Gangham Style” with some of the Zappos employees. It definitely was apparent that both parties throughly enjoyed themselves.
So who’s going to take home the crown? It’s hard to say, but I am pulling for Miss Ecuador, Miss France, Miss Nicaragua or Miss Cayman Islands. I guess we will have to stay tuned and see!
Booties: “Look Out” from Chinese Laundry
I am usually one of those people who buys something and only wears it once. And yes I can be an impulsive shopper. My mission? To wear everything and to show you different ways to get the most out of your closet. Do you have an item that is sitting in your closet and are stumped with what to wear it with? Send them my way! So stay tuned for Ways to Wear Wednesday!
Believe it or not these red booties are the first pair of red shoes I have owned. Weird right?! I seriously have every other color in my closet. To tell you the truth I am just not a big fan of the color (not on me at least). I do love myself some red lips though! So in the case of red booties or shoes, use them as the perfect pop of color, the finishing touch to your outfit. Black and white are obvious choices, I also love red combined with turquoise and personally I like red with mustard too. So here’s the breakdown of what I wore:
Outfit #1: Date Night
I chose this white blouse from Forever with my black skinnies from Citizens of Humanity. The red booties and red lips made for the perfect finishing touches.
Outfit 2: Work Time
I chose my favorite pair of harem pants from BCBGeneration with this striped tank from Kaitlyn. My advice? Invest in a good pair of harem pants. Not only are they comfortable, but they can be easily dressed up or down. Pair them with a blazer for work or for a night out try a sequin fitted top. I love the way booties look with harem pants and especially how these red booties really popped.
Outfit #3: Out & About
Don’t ever be afraid to mix prints! It adds a lot of character to the outfit. Now there can be a wrong way but we will discuss that in a later post. I chose this striped pleated skirt from BCBGeneration with my new printed cross sweater from Forever. The red booties add just the right amount of character to the outfit.
So I have to admit that I am kind of liking the red. I may just have to start looking into some more pieces in this color. This why they say try everything once…
Well I am the first to admit that my shoe collection is one of my prized possessions (hence all the labeling and all my stacked boxes above). Most of my shoes (heels, wedges, boots) are kept wrapped up in tissue in their boxes and stacked neatly on my shelves. I have worked many hours and burned through many paychecks to build my shoe collection, so I will do whatever it takes to take proper care of them. You know that feeling when one of your favorite pairs of shoes is so worn down that you can’t even wear them but just don’t have the heart to dispose of them? Well start with these few tips now and get more wear out of all your shoes!
Suede Shoes: Tough scuff? Use a suede eraser to rub away small blemishes. Next use a suede brush to smooth out the surface.
Wet Shoes: Stuff your shoes with newspaper and let them air dry (make sure to avoid any direct heat). Before they completely dry, use a shoe tree to restore their shape.
Salt stains: A combination of vinegar and water will take this right off. Dab the salted area in small amounts.
Leather: For lighter scuff marks, lightly rub a pencil eraser against the stain. If that doesn’t work, leather polish will do just the trick.
Smelly Shoes: This is bound to happen if we wear our favorite pair a little too often… Solution? Change the insoles.
Worn Out Soles: Find a good shoe repair shop to resole or reheel your shoes. This will also help to prevent any permanent damage. Choosing to resole one of my favorite pair of boots was one of the smartest decisions I have ever made! Definitely worth it!
Polishing: First make sure you have the right materials including: wax based polish, welt brush (this will get out the dirt that gathers between the sole and the upper) and a polishing cloth. Trust me, patent heels with scuff marks are not cute.
White Shoes: For scuff marks, try wetting the scuff with nail polish remover and then wipe clean.
These are just a few tips to keep in mind when dealing with any shoemergency. (Although a worn pair of shoes is always a good excuse to buy another!) What are your tips and tricks for taking care of your shoes?!
Top: Cotton On
Lace shorts: Kaitlyn
Bracelet: Forever 21
Shoes: Chinese Laundry “Object”
Now I am always one for heels and platforms but when I see a cute flat I can’t Object. Once I saw this modernized saddle shoe I knew they belonged in my closet. The best part? The hidden wedge, still giving you that extra bit of height.
I decided to pair these classic flats with these lacey shorts from Kaitlyn and a simple bright button down from Cotton On. I believe that every girl should have a pair of lace shorts in their closet. Work them into your wardrobe all year with tights and sweaters or with a simple printed tank. There really are no limits with these. They also come in a variety of colors, I am definitely thinking about a forest green for the holidays. To finish off the look, I chose this beaded necklace that my Grandma left me (she had the best costume jewelry) and a simple rhinestone cuff.
Cute and simple.
Stay tuned for more.
